Weekly Wrap-Up

Kinda hard to believe June is about over.

We’ve been finished with school for a couple of weeks and it’s been nice to take a break. Even though my girls work fairly independently, there’s still a more relaxed feel to the days.

My oldest has been gone most of the month. She went to camp with the youth group from the chapel we attend on post. They go to Camp Eagle, in Rocksprings, TX every year. From everything I’ve heard and seen, it’s an amazing place. She zip-lined, rappelled, swam, did team-building challenge events, hiked, worshiped, learned, and was commended by her leaders for her great attitude. A very good week!

After camp, she was home for a few days and then left again–back to Camp Eagle for a 10-day service project. She was thrilled to go back! She’s still there now, and from what I’ve heard they are working hard and having fun but are tired.

As soon as she gets back, she starts a new job! She was hired at a roller skating rink, owned by a wonderful homeschooling family. It will be a great environment for Hannah to work in.

Emily has enjoyed filling her days with reading, writing, and catching up on some favorite shows. She’s also gotten the chance to see a couple of new movies. She saw Maleficent and then How to Train Your Dragon 2 and really liked both of them (so did I)!

She is quite content to be a homebody and feels most at peace when she doesn’t have anywhere to go. Sometimes I beg her to come to the grocery story with me, for the company and the help, and she graciously accommodates me. :)

It is still interesting to me how different these girls are. What excites one drives the other nuts. This week of quiet pursuits that Emily has had would have Hannah climbing the walls, and Emily would not even remotely enjoy what Hannah’s been up to these past few days.

Keeps life interesting for the parents!

How has your week been?
