Weekly Wrap-Up

It’s been a very long time since I talked about what’s going on in our homeschool, which is kinda sad. It’s a pretty big part of our lives!

I will tell you this: Homeschooling teenagers during high school is amazing and wonderful and so much fun! (Obviously, not every single day–but definitely overall.) From the independent learning, to the discussions, to the subjects, there is nothing I would change about homeschooling all the way through high school.

I have to restrain myself from “going all mom” on my oldest (she hates it when I do that). This means gulping back the emotion that threatens when I think that next year will be her last in our homeschool.

She’s pretty much done with her subjects for this year, and has already started on some senior year stuff. Specifically, she’s started on this:

History and Philosophy of the Western World by 7 Sisters Homeschool
If you have a high school student in your homeschool, I would encourage you to check out 7 Sisters Homeschool. I have been so impressed with what they offer! We’ve used their writing curriculum, Psychology class, this Philosophy class, and next year we’ll also be using Human Development.

I’m so thankful for resources such as theirs because very soon our youngest will also be in high school! She’s finishing up 8th grade work and will soon be a freshman. Sigh. I’m feeling old today.

This is how I frequently find these two. One is working diligently on a story she’s writing and the other is being good company.

Cozy
Growth and stretching are not just taking place in the school arena around here lately. Both girls have spoken and led the devotional time at youth group! It was interesting to watch the unique way each of them approached doing it. Emily was very nervous and wrote out exactly what she wanted to say–word for word. Hannah had a rough outline and didn’t seem nervous at all. Both did great and got plenty of positive feedback! We were very proud of them for being willing to step up and lead.

Oh, I almost forgot–homeschool prom! It was actually last week, but I’ll share a picture anyway:

(Linking up with Kris at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers today. Come see what others homeschoolers have been up to this week. You might just find something to inspire or encourage you.)
