I Know it Seems Crazy

We did this crazy thing called moving. And this one was on us, our choice, our work, our timing—not the Army’s.

You see, ever since we’ve been here at Fort Hood we (well, mostly I) have wanted to experience living life on post. We got our chance finally! The very end of May we loaded up everything for the drive across town to our “new” house in a neighborhood on post. The neighborhood is close to the chapel, the commissary, the pool, and friends!

I Know it Seems Crazy
The crazy part of all this is that we don’t know how much longer we’re going to be here in Texas. It could be for less than 6 months, it could be for another year and a half, it could be longer. But we did it anyway, because there’s these crazy things I want to experience:
  • Bugle calls over the loudspeakers
  • Helicopters flying right overhead
  • Artillery blasts that shake the house
  • Walking the trails around the neighborhood and to friends’ houses
  • Husband maybe getting to come home for lunch sometimes and definitely less driving time for him every day.
  • Living in a community of people who all have much in common.

We’ve been here a few weeks now and have been enjoying getting to know our new neighbors. Truthfully, I’m pretty sure we have the oldest kids on our street, but Hannah has already been hit up for possible babysitting gigs.

Our house is much smaller than what we were in, but we’re ok with that. It’s homey and comfortable and fits us well. And we’ll enjoy it for as long as God allows.
